WoW/Keepers – Autumn Flea Market 2015

Yesterday, I organised the second Flea Market in the WoW/Keepers Club. After the rather lonesome experience in Spring (sadly, few visitors), word had spread around and we were able to welcome a lot more people who searched for hobby stuff, being it Tabletop or Pen and Paper. It was also an opportunity for the local community to gather and babble about hobby stuff offline.

Personally, I didn’t bring any stuff this time, but was able to get the Slave 1 and Lambda Shuttle for my X-Wing Squad (for less than half the retail price) and a really cool miniature for a new tabletop project after Warhammer had died so horribly and undignified.

Thanks to all the traders who brought their stuff and made the market a really enjoyable pastime.

Special thanks to ACE, one of the loyal providers – talking to him, I learned about a game called Frostgrave. Seems pretty cool and I’m looking forward to check it.

WoW/Keepers – First Fantasy Flea Market Impressions

Today, my Club opened it’s doors for a fantasy-themed Flea Market. A great variety of fantasy-related stuff was for sale and brought some old and new chaps together for geeky babbling and purchasing new hobby stuff.

Perhaps we will do this again in Autumn, as the marketeers enjoyed the event – and there is a chance that my Club will organize this Flea Market again on a regular basis. Time will tell.

ETC 2014 – Road Trip, Accomodation and Pairing Party

After a six hours long road trip with the car (including one hour waiting at the hungarian-serbian border), we finally arrived at Novi Sad.

Ah, the tournament player’s lifestyle. 😀

The pairing ceremony. Some voluntary dudes got tickets with country names on their shirts, then had to drink. At the bottom of the glass, there was an army symbol. Two of each kind. The pairing was decided randomly by which guys symbol you shared with.

 

ETC 2014 – Packing for the trip

The good thing as a non-gaming participant is your light luggage.

Years ago, when I played at the single side event at ETC Münster, we all carried our armies as hand baggage in the airplane – better loosing your underwear than the precious tin miniatures you spent dozens of hours painting.

Finally, a proper chance to wear the shirts from last year again.

ETC 2014 – Bootcamp Impressions

As the next ETC is just a few weeks ahead, the members of Team Austria WhFB gathered in our capitol Vienna to train for a whole weekend. The event occurred in my local gaming Club, the WoW/Keepers (an amalgamation between the two former Clubs World of Warhammer and the Keepers of Dice).

In August 2013, I was able to film some short flicks while the Austrian Warhammer Team battled it’s way through the European Team Championship in Novi Sad.

After a lot of snipping and reediting, the final cut shows you some impressions from this gorgeous and impressively organized tournament. Hope you enjoy the movie and see you back in Novi Sad this August.

Vienna Gaming Convention 2012

Last wekend, Vienna saw its annual Gaming Festival. It usually takes place in November (to be nicely placed before Christmas) and contains “normal” board games as well as Fantasy games like tabletop, Pen and Paper and LARP roleplay.

My club, the WoW/Keepers, presented themselves with three tables containing the subjects Painting and Gaming. We showed Warhammer as well as Blood Bowl. Although we were pretty few, we were able to present our hobby properly and hopefully addict some of the visitors to Fantasy tabletops.

And of course, we had brought some books to show.

It was a really enjoyable weekend – although it can be wearing to explain the hobby “Tabletop” and the game Blood Bowl to real beginners. But nevertheless, it was a great opportunity to spread the virus. And beside this, it was really nice to see the gleaming in the eyes of people exploring the fun of playing with miniatures and the joy of someone painting his first miniature.

In every beginning, there is a seed of wonder – and maybe, just maybe, we were able to plant the seeed and joy of one of the greatest hobbies in these lads.

For November in Vienna is a very dark, wet and cold issue, we left this gorgeous convention in a very damp atmosphere. But thanks to the hall, we were able to spend the weekend in a cosy and heated building.

If you are in Vienny next November, I recommend you to visit this Festival, as it is definitvely worth it – and if you are not into tabletop gaming (apart from the question why you are reading this Blog), you can see several Role Playing Clubs, LARP groups or play board games.
